Driver Allegedly Kills Travel Consultant in Hit-and-Run Incident in Ogun State

A tragic incident in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State resulted in the death of 27-year-old travel consultant Oluwatobiloba Bukola Fisayomi Arike, allegedly struck and killed by a driver identified as Evans Abifade.

Reports indicate that the fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, as the victim was on her way to purchase food near Agro Bus Stop via Ojodu-Berger in Akute. Eyewitnesses, outraged by the incident, apprehended Abifade and turned him over to officers from Ajuwon Police Station who arrived at the scene. They subsequently transported the deceased’s lifeless body to the morgue.

The family and friends of the deceased have appealed to the Ogun State government and the Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.

Expressing his grief on Facebook on Thursday, July 4, 2024, a friend of the deceased, Lugard Ebighe, wrote: “The police refused to take a statement from us but granted the driver who killed you his wish of going to hospital for treatment. More than 24 hours now and no statement about your gruesome death. Nigeria Police is the failure that keeps failing.”
