Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is currently in a conflict with his predecessor and the current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
This political crisis has divided the Rivers House of Assembly, with factions aligning either with Wike or Fubara.In a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting in Enugu on Wednesday, July 17, the PDP Governor’s Forum declared their solidarity with the Rivers governor.
“The Forum notes the crises in the Rivers State Chapter of the party and commits to ensuring peace. The Forum has resolved to stand by His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State,” the communiqué reads.
The governors also stated that “wider consultations” with stakeholders should be pursued to achieve a “lasting” solution to the political crisis in the south-south state.
