Gunmen ambushed and killed HRH Tanimu Kunbiya, the Gara of Chanchanji, and his son, Yusuf, along the Takum-Chanchanji road in Taraba state’s Takum Local Government Area on Friday, July 19th.
The attack occurred while they were returning from a funeral in Takum. Governor Agbu Kefas confirmed the incident and expressed his deep sadness. He directed law enforcement agencies to swiftly apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.
In a press statement, the governor’s media aide, Emmanuel Bello, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, the Chanchanji community, and the people of Takum.
The statement read: “The death of the Gara of Chanchaji, HRH Alhaji Tanimu Kumbiya, and his son is a tragic loss. The manner in which they were brutally attacked is deeply saddening. I have ordered security agents to immediately investigate the circumstances and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.”
Governor Kefas urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that the state is committed to bringing the criminals to justice.
