Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez is embroiled in another racism controversy. Fans at his former club, River Plate, chanted a discriminatory song targeting France during his return, a song some football fans tagged as racist song.
This incident follows an earlier controversy where Fernandez shared a video of himself and Argentina teammates singing a racist chant after winning the Copa America.
The video sparked outrage, with Chelsea’s French players unfollowing him and condemning the act. Fernandez apologized, and Chelsea launched an investigation.
Despite the prior controversy, Fernandez received a standing ovation at River Plate. The atmosphere turned to support as fans chanted the same racist song, seemingly in support of Fernandez.

‘Listen, spread the word;
They play in France, but they are all from Angola;
How nice it is! They are going to run;
They are ‘cometravas’* like f***ing Mbappé;
Their mom is Nigerian;
Their dad, Cameroonian.
But in the document …Nationality: French.’
‘Cometravas’ is a slang term that loosely translates to somebody who has sex with transgender people.
