Adamawa Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Friend and Carting Away with Motorcycle

A shocking betrayal has unfolded in Ganye, Adamawa State, with the arrest of 25-year-old Yahaya Balarabe.

The Adamawa State Police Command accuses Balarabe of murdering his close friend Usman and stealing his motorcycle and money.

According to police reports, Balarabe allegedly gained Usman’s trust by offering to help him with farm work. However, under the guise of friendship, Balarabe is accused of launching a brutal attack on Usman with a sharp cutlass. The attack reportedly resulted in Usman’s death from a fatal stab wound to the head. In a further display of cruelty, Balarabe is alleged to have disposed of the body by throwing it into a ditch.

Adding to the tragedy, the police allege that Balarabe did not stop at murder. He is also accused of stealing Usman’s motorcycle and a sum of 20,000 Naira.

Thankfully, Usman’s family reported the crime to the authorities. The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of spokesperson SP Abdullahi Nguroje, swiftly launched an investigation. Evidence gathered at the scene reportedly linked Balarabe to the crime.

In a surprising development, SP Nguroje revealed that Balarabe confessed to the murder and theft. He allegedly admitted that his sole motive was to steal the motorcycle and money.

SP Nguroje said: ‘’Interestingly, the suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement Committing the Crime, adding that he was only interested in taking possession of the deceased’s motorcycle and money.”

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, expressed deep disappointment at the incident. He commended the Ganye Divisional Police Headquarters for their swift action in apprehending Balarabe. To ensure a thorough investigation and legal prosecution, CP Morris directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID to take over the case.
