Brazilian football icon Zico has fallen victim to a brazen theft in the French capital just days before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The 71-year-old reportedly lost a briefcase containing an estimated £420,000 worth of jewelry and cash during a taxi ride.
According to local reports, Zico was in Paris as part of the Brazilian Olympic delegation. The theft occurred when a distraction tactic was employed by one individual to divert the driver’s attention, while another snatched the briefcase from the back of the vehicle.
French authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with the Brigade for the Repression of Banditry leading the charge to apprehend the culprits.
