A Kano Magistrate Court, sitting in the No-man’s-land area of Sabon Gari, has ordered the remand of a chemist, Manniru Ibrahim Fanisau, following allegations that he raped a 9-year-old girl to death.
According to State Counsel Barrister Zainab Aliko, Fanisau is accused of sexually assaulting Rumaisa Sadiq, who was brought to him for malaria treatment in the Jaba area of Fanisau in Unogo Local Government Area. The alleged assault resulted in the death of the girl.
Fanisau has pleaded not guilty to two charges: rape and homicide, which contravene sections 283 and 221 of the Penal Code Law. Presiding Judge Hajara Safiyyu Garba has ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre.
The case has been adjourned to September 30, 2024.
