Another Bauchi Road Impassable Due to Flooding

Severe flooding has rendered the Azare-Ja’amare road along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State impassable, causing major disruptions to transportation and raising concerns for nearby communities. The flooding has created a large crater on the road, a crucial artery in the northeast geopolitical zone.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed inspected the damaged area and has reported the situation to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi. Governor Mohammed expressed his concern that without effective management of the water flow, surrounding communities could be at risk of being submerged.

This road damage follows severe rains two weeks ago that significantly impacted another section of the federal highway, particularly between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The recent flooding has exacerbated the situation, forcing motorists to find alternative routes and creating major logistical challenges.

Over the past few weeks, Bauchi State has been grappling with severe flooding, resulting in loss of lives and the destruction of thousands of homes.
