Next Two Games Will Decide Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United Future, Claims Alan Shearer

Erik ten Hag has just two games to save his job at Manchester United, according to English Premier League legend Alan Shearer.

Ten Hag’s team suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool on Sunday, leaving them in 14th place after their first three matches.

United has faced criticism for their performance this season, despite spending over £200 million on new players, including Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, and Matthijs De Ligt.

Shearer believes the next two games are crucial for Ten Hag’s future at the club.

He told Betfair, “Man United’s results will have to improve massively for Ten Hag to still be at the club at Christmas. A lot will depend on their next two results.

“After the defeat to Brighton and the manner of defeat to Liverpool, if the team doesn’t see a massive improvement in the next game or two then it will be really, really difficult for him because the noise will only get louder.”

After losing 2-1 to Brighton, with a late goal by Joao Pedro, and the poor showing against Liverpool, Ten Hag needs a turnaround.

United will face Southampton at St Mary’s after the international break. Southampton has not yet earned a point this season.

Three days later, Man United will host Barnsley in the third round of the League Cup, a trophy Ten Hag aims to win again. Their next English Premier League match is away at Crystal Palace the following Saturday.
