A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday, September 15, in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of 15 children.
A J5 commercial bus carrying 63 children, mostly young people celebrating Eid al-Fitr, collided with an oncoming trailer.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kaduna State, Corps Commander Kabiru Nadabo, the driver of the J5 bus lost control due to excessive speed. The crash also left 48 children injured.
The injured victims were taken to Comprehensive Hospital in Saminaka, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to Dabo Lere Memorial Hospital.
The FRSC has urged drivers to prioritize road safety and adhere to speed limits, especially during festive periods. Nadabo added that the command has launched an investigation into the incident.
