Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara has suspended Otonye Briggs, the Local Government Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru, effective immediately.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 17, in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
In the directive, Governor Fubara appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the caretaker committee chairman of the council, instructing him to assume his duties right away.
Briggs has been directed to hand over all council property in his possession to the newly appointed chairman. The statement did not disclose the reason for the suspension.
