Attendees at Donald Trump’s rally in Tucson, Arizona, on September 12, have reported experiencing mysterious eye problems following the event, which drew over 2,000 people in extreme heat.
Some supporters ended up in the emergency room after the rally. The Trump campaign has stated that it is investigating the situation, while the Secret Service told News 4 Tucson that it was unaware of any unusual occurrences at the rally and had no knowledge of any planned threats against Trump.
The rally featured 48 exclusive attendees who stood on stage with Trump, divided into two groups. While those on stage left reported no symptoms, several individuals from the stage right group experienced severe eye pain after the event.
Mayra Rodriguez, a former Planned Parenthood director and Trump supporter, described her experience to News 4 Tucson, stating that her eyes were burning and her vision was impaired. After visiting the ER, she was questioned about possible exposure to any irritants. Days later, she continues to suffer, saying, “I can’t see anything. When I try to open my eyes, it’s like a white cloud. It hurts.”
Another woman, who wished to remain anonymous, echoed similar symptoms, saying, “This is horrible.” An unidentified man also reported his discomfort, stating, “My eyes were red like hell; it was terrible, I just couldn’t handle it.”
Kathleen Winn, a former Congressional candidate from Arizona’s 6th District, expressed her concerns to News 4 Tucson, saying, “We hope there’s no nefarious actors involved and that this isn’t a strategic hit.”
