The Nigerian Senate has approved a bill aimed at addressing the environmental, ecological, and developmental challenges facing the southwest region of Nigeria.
The South-West Development Commission Bill seeks to improve infrastructure and address other critical issues in the region.
Following its passage in the Senate, the bill will be transmitted to the House of Representatives for consideration.
The statement said: “The Southwest Caucus of the House of Representatives is pleased to announce the successful passage of the ‘Bill for an Act to Establish the South West Development Commission (HB.283)’ by the House of Representatives on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
“The bill, which aims to address critical infrastructural, ecological, and developmental challenges in the Southwest region, will now be transmitted to the Senate for concurrence.”
