Erling Haaland has announced that his girlfriend, Isabell Haugseng Johansen, is pregnant, keeping the news a secret from his teammates until now.
The Manchester City star shared the exciting news after another record-breaking performance, where he became Norway’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Haaland netted two goals in a 3-0 Nations League victory over Slovenia, bringing his total to 34 goals in just 36 appearances. He celebrated by posting a playful image on social media, sucking his thumb and cradling a ball under his shirt, accompanied by baby and “soon” emojis.
Johansen responded to the announcement, saying he will be a “very good” father and noted, “he did that.”
The news came as a delightful surprise to Haaland’s international teammates. Morten Thorsby commented: “We just found out, he had hidden it from us too. We congratulated him in the locker room 15 minutes ago. It’s great fun. A fantastic day for him. We found out from the photo on social media. He is good at keeping things like that hidden. Erling was lying on the massage table and getting a massage. There were congratulations there and everyone found out at the same time. Of course, he was very happy.”
Andreas Hanche-Olsen added: “We saw this post on Instagram which is not too difficult to interpret. It’s crazy news after breaking the goal record. Everyone is very happy for him.”
Haaland will soon join fellow City teammate Jack Grealish in the new parent club at the Etihad Stadium, as Grealish recently welcomed his daughter, Mila.
Haaland has one more match with Norway against Austria before returning to the reigning English Premier League champions.
