Four youths were killed in an attack by gunmen at a mining site in the Butura community of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident occurred on Friday night around 9 pm.
According to the President of the Butura Youth Movement, Sabastine Magit, the victims were working at the site when gunmen, speaking the Fulani dialect, opened fire. Four individuals were killed instantly, and five others were injured.
The deceased were identified as Bwefuk Musa, Klingshak Dickson, Promise Joshua, and Nyam Abaka. Magit said in a statement that the attack was unprovoked and followed a similar incident in the village of Wumat just four days earlier.
The attackers fled the scene before military personnel could intervene. Over 20 individuals from the Butura community have been killed in the past month, allegedly by Fulani assailants.
The injured victims are receiving medical attention, and local authorities and security forces are investigating the attack. Tensions remain high in the area following these incidents.
