Gunmen, believed to be assassins, have killed Abdulrafiu Afegbua, a middle-aged man known as Uroy, in Edo State.
The attack took place in the Awoyemi community of Okpella, within the Etsako East Local Government Area.
On the night of October 5, 2024, Afegbua was at home with his wife when he received a phone call asking him to meet someone. Despite her attempts to persuade him not to go out so late, he left the house. Upon arriving at the location, he was ambushed and shot in the chest and neck, resulting in his death.
When Afegbua did not return after several hours, his worried wife repeatedly called his mobile phone, but there was no answer. The next morning, a search party was formed, and they found his lifeless body in a nearby bush, not far from where his abandoned motorbike was located.
SP Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that an investigation is currently in progress.
