Severe Hunger Crisis Affects Six Nations, Including Five in Africa, in 2024

The Global Hunger Index 2024 highlights alarming hunger levels in Chad, Madagascar, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan, and Yemen.

These nations are confronting acute food insecurity caused by ongoing conflicts, economic instability, and climate shocks such as droughts and floods. Millions suffer from chronic hunger, with children particularly at risk of malnutrition.

Sub-Saharan Africa faces the most critical hunger crisis, marked by high rates of malnutrition and child mortality. Climate change worsens this situation, as extreme weather events disrupt food supplies.

Similar challenges are observed in South Asia, where Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan are also experiencing significant food insecurity.
