A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official, Emeason Chima, was abducted on Saturday in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The incident occurred near Maduka University as Chima was driving alone.
The kidnappers, who have demanded a ₦50 million ransom, have been in contact with the FRSC unit commander using Chima’s phone.
This latest kidnapping highlights the deteriorating security situation in the South-East region of Nigeria. The area has seen a surge in attacks by non-state actors, targeting government officials, security personnel, and civilians.
While the Nigerian government has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for these attacks, the group has consistently denied any involvement.
