A devastating incident has led to the untimely death of a 19-year-old man, Chinonso, following a bike accident allegedly caused by a taxi driver.
Chinonso was en route to a local market square with his cousin when the accident occurred.
They took separate bikes, and while halfway to their destination, a taxi driver, reportedly distracted by phone calls, collided with Chinonso’s bike.
His cousin recalled the horrifying moment, shouting for help as Chinonso’s leg was severely injured.

Chinonso was rushed to a government hospital. Upon arrival, the family was informed that the hospital required an upfront payment of N418,000 before treatment could begin. After making the payment, they were informed that the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) was on strike, protesting against the non-payment of salaries by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Despite frantic pleas, the hospital refused to treat Chinonso.
The family visited six different hospitals over the course of 12 hours and encountered repeated refusals for treatment from the hospitals due to the ongoing strike.
Tragically, Chinonso passed away at 7:44 a.m. after hours of suffering and begging for help.

Chinonso’s cousin expressed deep anger and sorrow, blaming President Tinubu’s administration for his death.
