The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 130 individuals, comprising 113 foreign nationals (87 males and 26 females), primarily of Chinese and Malaysian origin, and 17 Nigerian collaborators (4 males and 13 females).
The suspects are alleged to have been involved in high-level cybercrime, hacking, and activities that pose a threat to national security.
Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the arrests were made during a coordinated raid on a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja. The suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate their criminal activities.
The operation, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, was conducted on Saturday, 3 November 2024, by officers from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command Abuja and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).
The police are currently investigating the matter and analysing the seized evidence. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged in court.
