EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Benin City

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it has arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in various locations across Benin City, Edo State, a significant move in combating internet fraud in Nigeria.

In a statement posted on its X handle, on Thursday, the anti-graft commission disclosed that the arrest effected by its operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate on Tuesday, November 5.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended based on actionable intelligence gathered by the EFCC, which suggested their involvement in internet-related fraud.

This is not the first time the EFCC has made such arrests in Benin City.

In recent months, there have been several other instances where suspected internet fraudsters were taken into custody.

The EFCC said its efforts to combat internet fraud are ongoing, and the arrests demonstrate its commitment to tackling the issue.

The commission said its actions served as a warning to those engaging in fraudulent activities online.
