A 28-year-old trader, Tosin Anjorin, was arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo State on Monday, November 11, 2024. Anjorin is facing a two-count charge of assaulting three police officers.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 6, 2024, at the Otu-Costain Division in the Costain area of Ore, Ondo State.
Inspector James Usifoh, the prosecutor, told the court that Anjorin assaulted Inspector Omage Sandra by grabbing her uniform and bit Inspector Bose Onoseleaga on her back. Additionally, Anjorin allegedly assaulted the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Benson Funso Oludaye, by grabbing his clothes.
The charges against Anjorin contravene Sections 356(2) and 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Anjorin pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case was adjourned to November 22, 2024, to allow the prosecution to prepare for the trial.
The defense counsel, Mrs. K. M Lawani, did not object to the adjournment but requested bail for her client. The court granted bail to Anjorin in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
