Police Launch Manhunt for Woman Accused of Stabbing Husband 30 Times

Police in South Africa are searching for a 38-year-old woman, Halimmah Thamando Mnyobisi, in connection with the murder of her husband, Fezile Mnyobisi.

The 35-year-old teacher was fatally stabbed over 30 times in Botshabelo, Free State, on 15 September 2023.

Despite being driven to hospital by his wife, Mnyobisi tragically passed away upon arrival.

Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, revealed on Wednesday, 13 November, that the attack occurred near Sechaba-se-Maketse Combined School in H1-Section.

The victim was employed as a teacher at Refihlile Primary School in C-Section.

Initially, police registered a case of robbery and murder at Botshabelo Police Station. However, following a thorough investigation by detectives and the Provincial Investigative Psychology Section, three individuals were arrested on warrants.

Vusumuzi Daniel Nqele (43) and Moeketsi Innocent Manko (35) were apprehended on 8 November 2024 for murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Halimmah’s brother, Abdool Thamando (35), was subsequently arrested in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Authorities believe that Halimmah, who remains at large, may be driving a black Mazda CX-5 with unknown registration plates.
