Tragedy struck during a dream honeymoon in Miami, Florida, as 26-year-old Aleksandra Leczycka, a young bride from Poland, was found dead just 23 days after her wedding. Authorities suspect her death was caused by either a drug overdose or a severe allergic reaction to psychoactive substances.
Aleksandra and her husband, Dawid Leczycki, both from Siedlce, Poland, were discovered unconscious on a street in Miami, USA. Reports from local media suggested the couple had been robbed of their cash and jewellery, leading to initial suspicions that they had been drugged by assailants.
However, US police investigations later revealed evidence that the pair had voluntarily consumed psychoactive drugs. Aleksandra’s death was attributed to either an overdose or an adverse reaction to the substances, Polish investigators confirmed.
Hours before her tragic passing in August 2022, Aleksandra had shared photos on social media, enjoying drinks and relaxing on a Miami beach.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce, Poland, closed the case on 23 October 2024, after an extensive investigation that included legal assistance from US authorities, as well as expert analyses in toxicology and computer science.
Prosecutor Krystyna Golabek stated: “While evidence suggested the couple had taken drugs voluntarily, we cannot entirely rule out the possibility that they were involuntarily drugged. No evidence fully supports the initial theory of robbery-related doping.”
Aleksandra and Dawid had married on 6 August 2022, but their union was cut short by her untimely death just weeks later. The investigation’s conclusion marked the end of a painful chapter for those involved, with her cause of death officially determined over two years after the incident.
