Two Nigerian nationals, Ikemukwu Benjamin Ezirim, 39, and Christian Valentine Uchenna, 37, were arrested on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in Volkrust, Mpumalanga, South Africa, on drug-related charges.
The duo appeared in the Volkrust Magistrate’s Court on Friday, November 29, 2024, and were subsequently remanded in custody.
According to Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, a spokesperson for the Hawks, the arrests were made during a multidisciplinary operation conducted by various law enforcement agencies, including the Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Serious Corruption Investigation, Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, and the Standerton K9 Unit.
Further details regarding the specific drugs involved and the extent of the operation have not yet been released.
