Teenager Sues UK Parents for Forcing Him to Attend Boarding School in Africa

A 13-year-old boy has launched legal action against his UK-based parents, accusing them of “brutally” forcing him to attend a boarding school in Africa. The teenager, whose identity is protected, alleges that he was physically and emotionally abandoned by his parents.

His legal team claims the parents’ decision stemmed from fears of his potential involvement in gangs in London, a claim the boy strongly denies. He was reportedly sent to Africa under the guise of caring for a sick relative, only to find himself enrolled in a boarding school.

The court was told that the boy has endured significant hardship in Africa, including inadequate food, substandard education, and mistreatment. He also described feelings of humiliation and isolation, especially as he has been mocked by English peers for being “deported.”

The parents argue their decision was in their son’s best interest, citing concerns about his behaviour and exposure to criminal influences in the UK. They maintain that the boarding school in Africa provides a safer, more structured environment for his development.

The case is ongoing, with the judge deliberating the complex matters of parental rights, child welfare, and the boy’s best interests.
