The Edo State Police Command has arrested a Fulani herdsman for the attempted murder of a 36-year-old farmer, Adi Benedith.
According to a statement released on Sunday, 8th December 2024, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, the incident occurred on 3rd December 2024, at Ugbaiyon village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area. The herdsman, identified as Idris Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed Benedith in the stomach while he was working on his farm.
The statement read: “Following a distress call received by the Command on 03rd December 2024, that one Adi Benedith ‘m’ 36yrs was stabbed on the stomach by a Fulani herdsman at his farmland located at Ugbaiyon Village by Benin-Agbor Road, operatives of Okhuaihe Division mobilized to the scene and succeeded in arresting the herder named Idris Ibrahim ‘m’ 25yrs who attempted to flee the scene, while the injured victim was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
“The suspect admitted commission of the crime and soon will be charged to court accordingly.
