Maduka Okoye Set for Surgery After Wrist Injury

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will undergo surgery after sustaining a wrist injury during Udinese’s Serie A match against Genoa.

The 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. The club confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, 9th December.

Okoye was absent for last night’s Serie A clash with Monza, where Udinese secured a 2-1 victory. The game saw Lorenzo Lucca put Udinese ahead in the 6th minute, followed by an equaliser from Giorgos Kyriakopoulos for Monza just two minutes after the break. However, Jaka Bijol sealed the win for Udinese with a goal in the 70th minute.

The former Rotterdam goalkeeper has been a key player for Udinese since last season, making 14 league appearances for Kosta Runjaic’s side this term.
