Court Orders Arraignment or Release of Speed Darlington Over Alleged Cyberbullying of Burna Boy

Singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, will be arraigned or released within 48 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja granted his Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure (FREP) application.

Darlington, who has been detained in Abuja since November following his arrest in Owerri, Imo State, faces allegations of cyberbullying Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju announced the court’s decision on social media, stating: “Our FREP application for Speed Darlington aka has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hrs or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail.”

Darlington’s arrest followed his transfer by the Nigeria Police Force from Owerri to Abuja. Reports suggest that Deputy Inspector-General Dasuki Galadanchi personally took over the case files, indicating high-level involvement.

Adeyanju previously confirmed Burna Boy’s involvement in Darlington’s arrest, criticising the singer for oppressing someone despite producing songs against oppression.
