Armed Robber Sentenced to Death in Kano

The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Nasir Saminu, on Wednesday, 8th January, sentenced Abdurrahman Yakubu to death by hanging for armed robbery.

Yakubu, a resident of Bele Local Government Area in Nassarawa State, was found guilty of multiple counts of armed robbery involving the use of dangerous weapons. Among his victims was Barrister Hajara Lawal Ahmad, from whom he stole a car and an unspecified sum of money.

After reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution, led by Barrister Umar Yakubu, Justice Saminu found the defendant guilty beyond reasonable doubt. The court dismissed the defence’s arguments and determined that the firearms recovered from Abdurrahman were illegally obtained and used for criminal activities.
