A young South African woman, Manapo Mokoena, has been arrested in Bethlehem, Free State, after brutally beating up her child.
The incident, which occurred this week, came to light when a witness shared photographs of the injured child on Facebook. According to the witness, Mokoena severely beat her daughter after the child lost R37.
“I slapped her with my hand, and my intention was to kill her with my hand,” Mokoena reportedly stated.
Following the incident, government social workers intervened, taking the injured child to hospital for medical attention. Mokoena was subsequently arrested by police officers.
The child’s stepfather confirmed that this was not an isolated incident and that Mokoena had physically abused the child on previous occasions.
