The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Sylvester Victor Augustus, a 32-year-old man accused of creating a fake recruitment notice on the agency’s website.
Augustus, a native of Abak Local Government Area in Akwa-Ibom State, was apprehended on Thursday, 9th January, at his residence in Abak. He is a graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) and reportedly works as a blogger and content creator.
The suspect allegedly cloned the official DSS website and published a fraudulent recruitment notice, aiming to deceive members of the public. The DSS promptly issued a warning to the public about the fake notice and cautioned them against falling victim to such scams.
Augustus is expected to be brought before the courts soon.
