Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of Nigerian billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, have been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.
This follows a viral video showing them spraying naira notes at a public event, an act which violates Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
Subomi later issued a public apology, stating he was unaware that abusing the naira is an offence. However, the EFCC, in a letter signed by Michael Wetkas, Acting Director of the Lagos Directorate, has directed the brothers to report to the head of the special operations team at the commission’s office on Awolowo Road by 10 am on Monday, 13th January 2025.
