The family of Ifeoma Esther Onyekwelu, a banker murdered by suspected kidnappers in Anambra State, has announced funeral arrangements.
Onyekwelu was reportedly abducted in Onitsha and held captive for several days before her captors contacted her family with a ransom demand.
An undisclosed sum of money was subsequently paid, but Onyekwelu was not released. Her lifeless body was later discovered near Ideani Junction, along the Nnobi-Alor Road in Idemili South Local Government Area.
A source speculated that Onyekwelu may have recognised her captors, leading them to eliminate her to avoid exposure. “The family members are devastated by the news of her death,” the source added.
The deceased will be laid to rest in her father’s compound in Amorji village, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State on 1st February 2025.
