Four individuals from Cameroon and Chad have been arrested in Ogun State, Nigeria, by the So-Safe Corps, a local security outfit.
The suspects, identified as Dorooumouna Brosia (23, Cameroonian and the group’s leader), Hassan Bukhari (Cameroonian), Saleh Sinine Sakhair (27, Chadian), and Mahamat Moudaina (23, Chadian and Saleh’s brother), were apprehended at around 8:00 am on Thursday, 13th February 2025.
The So-Safe Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrests in a statement released through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Moruf Yusuf. The arrests were made following intelligence received by the Corps.
The suspects were intercepted in a taxi en route to Lafenwa, Abeokuta. During questioning, they admitted that the two Cameroonians had been in Ibadan for over four months, awaiting the arrival of the two Chadians.
They further stated that a Chadian national, Hassan Seid, residing and working in Lafenwa, Ibadan, had invited them to Ogun State. The suspects claimed they intended to work, improve their English, and conduct business in the state.
Dr Ganzallo emphasised the potential security risks posed by undocumented immigrants, citing concerns about criminal activity and threats to national security, public safety, and health.
The four individuals have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogun State for further investigation and possible repatriation.
